On receiving the award, Dr Thomas said: “It is an honor and a privilege to win the Student Award from Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, and even more so because I was nominated by the students themselves. It is encouraging to know that students see the value of the Welsh language offer in biosciences and feel that they are getting the support they need to continue their studies bilingually. I am extremely grateful for this recognition. »
Dr Ioan Matthews, Chief Executive of Coleg Cymraeg, said: “The winners deserve so much praise and recognition for their brilliant academic work, but also for encouraging and supporting their peers and colleagues at universities, colleges and places to be proud of their Welsh language and in doing so raise the profile of the Welsh language within their institution.
“I am delighted that we were able to organize an in-person event tonight to celebrate the commitment of our learners, students and teachers. They have been central to Coleg’s success over the decade and we are truly proud of their success over the past year.
